That it's "mnemonics". M-N-E-M-O-N-I-C-S.

Not mneumonics, not pneumonics (what are we pumping up tires here?). Mnemonics. Pronounced "neh-moniks".

Sorry, but my eyes keep twitching every time I see someone write it weird.

That is all.

I keep seeing everyone talk about them, what are they?? a way of studying??

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Equusz, you must have a twitchy time on the internet. :D If I had a nickel for each time I saw "mneumonics" or even "pneumonics," I would be on a beach, sippin' a drink with a colorful umbrella in it. I used to groan every time I saw that, too. But spelling isn't everyone's strong point ... I'm over it. ;)

Boston, you'll probably want some mnemonics to help you remember the critical elements of the areas of care for the final clinical exam, and the grid is a piece of paper on which you lay them out to keep them organized while you move through the clinical exam. If you go here, you can download my friend Ivan's guide:

With that being said, don't worry too much about it yet. Focus on the exams first, and the CPNE study will follow. :)
