what does BM stand for, I know its is blood sugar monitoring, and I think the M stands for mellitus, but I am not sure if the B was for blood, or a latin type word.

Can you help, me out of my blonde moment?

BM if I remember stand for the company who first made the devices

MikeRGN is absolutely correct. The company that was widely used for blood glucose measurement introduced a machine called BM (Blood Monitor). The abbreviation for blood glucose concentration has remained 'BM' ever since.

I used to work with an English nurse who always gae us a good chuckle when giving handover whenever she mentioned "bm". Like the US we would use that abbreviation for bowel movement. She seemed to think that the "BM" came from the brand of glucometer.
