I have a question for you all. I am a under a travel contract through Parallon in the state of Florida. I have several weeks left to go as per my contract, but yesterday my
recruiter states the hospital had cancelled it due to low census and has given me a two
week notice. Is this legal to break a contract that easy? My recruiter states there is a clause stating that they can do this, but my signed contract was only a page long and I don't see any of that verbage she stated. I guess my question is should the remaining shifts (i.e. 36 hr wage week/per diem/housing allowance) be guaranteed to me? Thanks
Do you have an employee handbook? The missing language is probably in there. Yes, you should get your time for the two weeks. However, there may also be a call off policy in the handbook.
NED, what should I write in my next contract to prevent this from happening again. Like canceling shifts and then rescheduling "to get to 36 hrs" and the 2 wks notice of termination? thanks
