Hello All,
I am a Canadian citizen who received my BSN from an accredited university in Michigan. I was attending school in the US on an athletic scholarship and returning to practice in Ontario was always the plan. I did not write the NCLEX in Michigan and therefore am not licensed as an RN in any jurisdiction.
I initiated the process by submitting my information to the NNAS and received their report back that stated my education was deemed comparable to that of a Canadian Educated RN.†The advisory report was then submitted to the CNO for review. Unfortunately, the response I received from the CNO stated You do not meet the education requirement. You are required to complete additional education.â€
While I have done a fair amount of reading here, I don't know if I have encountered someone in a similar situation (favourable report from NNAS, unfavourable ruling from CNO). Therefore, I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or can offer any advice given my situation. What is frustrating is that the CNO offers no clear guidance on what may be required to ensure a favourable ruling if re-applying. i.e. if I complete further education, there is not necessarily a guarantee I will be accepted by the CNO.
Some options I have now explored include an IEN Bridging Program or applying to another province, perhaps Alberta or BC.
Appreciate any advice you may have, thanks!

Did your advisory report provide percentage breakdowns? If so, were some of the percentages low? Maybe CNO reviewed the percentage breakdowns and decided further testing and/or remediation to make up for deficiencies was required? You do not have work experience so you are not eligible to do the OSCE. If you apply to another province and you do not have any work experience are you eligible to do their SEC, CCA or CBA assessment?
azzurri did you find out any more information about applying to an IEN bridging program or applying to another province?

Have you taken the NCLEX in Ontario yet? Have you received any more information from CNO regarding supplemental education? I am also in the midst of an NNAS application and having a difficult experience every step of the way.
