I self reported today, and I just don't know what to do next. Do I wait for the board to contact me? Should I already be looking for outpatient treatment before talking to anyone at the board? I thought they determined the level of care needed. How long did it take you to hear back from them?

I was referred to CANDO many moons ago. It was then, pretty straight forward. Go to meetings, don't drink/drug, get tested (about 2 times per month, as I recall) and submit reports. No narc keys for one year.
I did not complete, due to my relapse. I have now been clean and sober since 2005. I am attempting my license in TX, rather than AZ, since I live here now.
As far as waiting, I can tell you this. I submitted an application for reissue of my AZ license over ONE year ago. Their website tells you it will take no longer than 270 days. I just received an email telling me they still have not gotten to my application, which is why I am now trying in TX.
Of the few nurses I knew that went through and successfully completed CANDO, I can tell you that they have NO PUBLIC mark on their license. It comes with a hefty price (costs of testing, etc), but it can be done.
Good luck. And have you thought of getting an attorney?
