What are your interests? What type of nursing are you interested in?

Here is a good general process to use to identify a good topic. You want to choose a topic that interests you, but that also is "do-able" in that the literature you will need to use as a foundation for your project is available to you.

1. Identify your general area of interest. E.g. Are you interested in pediatrics? Oncology? Geriatrics? Orthopedics? Community health? Maternity? etc.

2. Go to a good nursing library and browse several issues of current journals that focus on that general area. Get a feel for some of the "hot topics" in that field and see what people in that area are interested in.

3. Continue to browse various journals and identify possible topics until you have narrowed it down to 2 or 3 topics that really interest you.

4. Then do a specific literature search on each of those topics to see what you find. You don't want to pick a topic that you can't find any information on.

Based on the above process, you should have narrowed it down to 1 or 2 good choices now. Which one suits your specific assignment best? Pick that one.

Using the above process guarantees that you will choose a topic that:

1. Relates to an area that interests you

2. Has sufficient literature available for you to do your project

3. Fits well with your assignment requirements.

What more could you want? The topics suggested by a bunch of strangers on the internet might not meet any of those criteria.

Hello there, thank you for your reply, I'm much more interested on nursing education, thank you for the pointers, I will surely consider that.

Once again thank you and God bless! :yeah:

llg gave you excellent suggestions.

It's unrealistic to come to a forum where you are new and ask people who don't know you to pick topics for your thesis. We don't know what interests you. We don't know anything about you. And we don't know the parameters for this assignment or what the instructor expects.

What you could do is follow llg's directives and come back with list of choices for potential topics. Tell us what you're thinking about each one and list any hesitations you might have. Then we might be able to help you narrow down your final selection.

This is your thesis, so you should be the one with the most invested. We can help you shape the information you assemble or challenge you in a healthy way to explain things better, but we really shouldn't be the ones picking the topic.

I really appreciate these comments and suggests as I too am considering a Masters with a thesis component but have been having problems trying to narrow down the process. Thanks so much!
