Hello. I dont know if this is where I am supposed to ask a question like this but I thought Id take a shot.
My mother has been having this incredible foot/heel pain for the last 6 months and her doctors said she has plantar fasciitis/bone spurs. However, now she said the pain moved to her hands and she described the pain as the same in her feet and "very specific" to the joints. SHe also says she gets pain every once and a while in her shoulders and knees (same pain). She is not one to complain about pain so when she said to me that she cancelled tennis and that she almost cries every day bc of how bad it is, I am thinking something is really going on. The doctors (2 foot specialists) have told her to stay off it and lose weight but she suspects something more is going on. SHe also has mild numbness in her feet/hand, sometimes, and is taking pain meds for all of this.
I am a nursing student in my last semester and was wondering if anyone could tell me what they think it is or what/where I should tell her to go? Thanks so much!

Of course we can't diagnose, and your mothers doctors are the best people to ask. But one thing comes to my mind and that is fibromyalgia. It started in me when I was in nursing school, it started in my right shoulder. and gradually and progressively spread to all major joints as well as my hands, feet and elbows. (took years) A Rheumatologist can do some diagnostic tests as well as labs to rule out several possibilities. Best wishes to your Mom.

Try a refferal to a rhuematologist, or any Dr. specializing in joint disease. I hope this helps.

We can not give medical advice on this forum, but please have her schedule an appt with her physician so they can go over her symptoms and be able to find the answers you all are looking for!
