Does anyone ever call off a scheduled shift? Is this acceptable in agency nsg? Curious.

It depends on the reason for calling off, illness, death for immediate family members, are acceptable for excused absences with agencies that I have worked for. Your should check with the employee handbook from the agency you choose to work with.

Here's the scoop on this...
if the hospital is busy and you are a habitual canceller, the hospital after awhile won't take your shifts seriously and you risk the possibility of not being used for work. Better to book absolute shifts but if you do cancel, make it a seldom occurrence.
