California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) ABSN - Spring 2026

Published

Hi I just wanted to create this discussion for those that applied to CSUSM ABSN for Spring 2026 start. I haven't gotten an acceptance email yet but in my CSUSM portal it says I've been admitted to the program so im just wondering if anyone else got the same thing.

Hi! I just got an email like 30 minutes ago, so I'd keep checking your email! I didn't check my portal yesterday afternoon/evening, so I'm not sure if they updated it there first. I hope you get your email soon! 😁 (Maybe also check your communication portal in the MyCSUSM Student Center?)

Congrats! I got the email too!

Yay – happy for you! I'm so excited to start and meet everyone! I still need to accept my offer, but I'm planning to.

Hi guys, congrats!  I'm about done with my pre reqs. Can someone confirm if O chem is needed? The website doesn't really specify, it appears a general chem and lab would suffice.

I didn't take O Chem, I took a Gen Chem with lab, but depending on where you took/are taking prerequisites they have a link on their site where you can check course equivalencies.

Appreciate your response. There isn't a specific articulation for the course on the assist. I took a Intro Chem course and lab at Mesa college here in San Diego that covers basic principles.

Congrats to everyone! I just got accepted this past week, too! I'm super excited to meet everyone. It was so unexpected because I didn't think they were going to start accepting until September. Not complaining, though! Did you all get evaluation worksheets before being accepted? I never did, and I wondered if they were just doing things differently, or if I missed it. I know it doesn't matter now, but I'm just curious! My name is Becca. Nice to meet you all! 🙂

Hi Becca, I was confused about the same things! From looking at old posts I thought we would have received just the evaluation sheet some time in the past month, so I was surprised to see the admission email so early!

Does anyone know when we will have to complete other tasks like the background check? In the email they linked the resource page, but it doesn't seem to have any information specific to ABSN except for the Fall orientation date.

Hi Alison! I haven't seen any information yet on when orientation is or about completing the other tasks. I think we might just have to wait on e-mails about it! It did say to keep checking our to-do list for info on doing the other tasks so I've been checking it everyday, but nothing yet! Hopefully soon; I'm anxious to get started!!

For those who are committed to attending, are you guys from around the area or plan on moving there? Im from LA so I'm trying to figure out where to live.

I live in SD county, about 35 min. from the main campus. If I were you, I would stay in San Marcos somewhere, simply because you might get a clinical in Riverside County, which will be a hike anywhere from the more southern parts of SD. I hope I don't get any clinicals up there, but I'm prepared (and expecting it)! San Marcos also tends to be one of the cheaper areas of SD county. Temecula is even cheaper, which is in Riverside County. Both good areas to live. From what I've read, we will have classes in both San Marcos and Temecula. I'm a San Diego native; feel free to ask questions about any area in the county 🙂
