I am disappointed, but congratulations to everyone who did get in!! tbh IDK how I didn't get into the program.. I was confident with my stats 😕 Just proves the competitiveness of this program. To everyone rejected, don't let this detour you from your goal! I will be reapplying for Spring 2025! GPA: 3.5 undergrad, BS in Kinesiology and 3.8 science pre-reqs Certs/license: Pharmacy tech, medical assistant, EKG tech, BLS Experience: 5 years pharmacy tech, 3.5 years medical assistant (full time positions in rheumatology, sports medicine, ortho), 300 volunteer hours as a physical therapy aide a bomb a** personal statement and interview video to justify the lower GPA

Got a straight up rejection email earlier today. Didn't even get an interview. This is really lowering my mental health and I'm feeling hopeless. I'm already old, accomplished nothing in life career wise and now it's delayed by another year. Ugh I really needed this so I can get a career sooner and support my family 😞

Fall 2024 Application Status Update:
As always, the applicant pool for the CSUN ABSN program's Fall 2024 cohort was large and competitive. Unfortunately, the Nursing faculty did not recommend you for admission to the Fall 2024 cohort. Please know that these decisions are never easy. Regardless, we greatly appreciate your interest in CSUN, and the program, and recognize and respect your accomplishments and talents in the application process thereto. Below please find answers to some Frequently Asked Questions.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Why wasn't I selected for admission to the current cohort?
This is a highly competitive program that regularly receives hundreds of applications for its limited number of seats; the admissions committee admitted those that it deemed were the highest ranking based on a review of all applications. This does not mean that your application was lacking, it just means that it was a super-competitive applicant pool.
What criteria were used in reviewing my application?
The applications process is an holistic one that includes multiple factors, which include, but are not limited to:
I. GPA above 3.21
ii. GPA Masters 3.0 or higher
iii. GPA for Sciences
IV. LVN with BS/BA
v. Employment – direct contact with patients
vi. Volunteer hours
vii. Certificates
viii. Letter of intent
Can I be considered for the waitlist to the current cohort?
The admissions committee has already selected a waitlist, and only those selected can be considered for admission.
Can I appeal the decision?
No, unfortunately, admissions decisions are not open to appeal.
Can I reapply to a future cohort of the program?
Yes, you can reapply during the next application cycle. Applications for Spring 2025 will be opening in June.
Would I need to resubmit documents if I reapplied to a future cohort?
Yes, you would need to resubmit all admissions materials except for your transcripts.
Can I meet with you to discuss my current application?
Although I am always happy to hear from those interested in the program, please note that I do not have detailed feedback at the individual level regarding applications. The admissions committee conducts all application reviews and only provides me with a status notification (admitted/waitlist/denied). As such, such a meeting may not provide the information for which you may hope.
In closing, thank you kindly for your interest in the ABSN program. We know that you have invested a tremendous effort in completing the application process—an effort that we appreciate. We wish you the best in your future academic endeavors.
Sounds like if you didn't get accepted or placed on waitlist, you can consider yourself rejected.
