I am experiencing the same problem. I graduated nursing school in Ontario, Canada, and have worked in NYC since 2021. When I applied for a California license in July 2023, I was told that my training was deficient in OB nursing, too. I could not find any stand-alone Obstetrics Nursing course that has Clinicals simultaneously. So, I am now enrolled in the Loma Linda University Obstetrics Nursing course for this Spring, 2025.
Since I work and live in NYC, I will commute from NYC to Loma Linda, California, twice a month for 2.5 months. The course is $5550. I purchased six round-trip flight tickets that cost about $2200. Then I must rent a car to drive from LA airport to Loma Linda and back, which will cost about $1000 as well. I have to pay 10K to get a Cali license for one deficiency skill that I will never use. That is a high price to pay.

I graduated nursing school in the UK in 1996 and have worked in the US since 2003. I have a Florida multi state license and am trying to get a California license. (I am a travel nurse) I have been told that my original training was deficient in OB nursing. I have found it impossible to find a class to satisfy this requirement. Every school I have reached out to will not let me take the class as a stand-alone and would require admission to the entire RN program. Has anyone have any info on stand-alone OB classes?
