I am starting Calhoun's RN program in the Fall. I'm excited about this but I am concerned about getting a job after I complete the 2 year course. It seems like the Huntsville area pumps out hundreds of RN's each year, I would think this market is oversaturated with new RN's. I would appreciate some feedback from RN's who have graduated within the last few years. I'd like to know if you are working or not. I'd like to know how difficult it was for you to get hired and by whom? Any info about Huntsville's RN employment market would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hi. I will graduate in December from the RN program. I know a bunch of people who graduated in May who have already found jobs nearby. :)
Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

I am also going in at Calhoun in the fall and currently work at a hospital. At our orientation there were several new hire nurses. I will say that according to our speaker that day he said that for every new position that comes available there are 100 applicants or more. The name of the game is to make yourself stand out.

I didn't graduate from Calhoun but from Wallace in May. I was able to find a job pretty quickly. Since you are just starting school my number one piece of advice would be to make a really good impression with all of your clinical instructors and the nurses on the floor of your clinicals. Despite what most nursing students think they do watch you and remember who the good students are and will tell their managers those names. Good luck with school!!
Thank you for the imput, 100 applicants for each position sounds a bit depressing. Any hire stories out there?
