Calfornia CNA provisional/suspension -can I still become an RN?

Published

Hi. In 2003 I was investigated for abuse of a client/patient when I was stupid and 19. It was very minor-I said the following provoking words-"I'll give Glen-(a co-worker) a piggy back ride." These words were deemed abusive because I knew that my intellectually disabled client had an obsession with piggyback rides. Anyway, the client became enraged and physically aggressive. My co-worker became verbally involved-she was fired. The client filed abuse charges againstmy co-worker and I and two years later, the state came to investigate-(2005) the long past incident. The state found that I was negligent and my words contributed to the incident. The consequence was that my CNA would be put on provisional terms for a period of 18 months if I wanted to keep it; however, I moved away shortly after this and did not keep up with my CNA. Currently I am pre-nursing and I wanted to now if this incident would prevent me from receiving an RN license in the state of California. I also would like to mention that after the initial incident I continued to be employed in my supervisory position and received various awards and letters of recommendation. I worked there for a total of five years. Can anyone shed some light?
