Calcium, Vit D confusion

Do you need calcium to absorb vitamin D or vitamin D to absorb calcium? I think it's the last.... right?

I use to have this right, but this girl in class kept saying it backwards all day while she was trying to work out teaching plans for her patient that could relate to the fact they were taking calcium and vit D. I knew she was wrong, and we kind of both got confused and questioned each other and now I can't keep it straight.

Anyone know of any trick to remember?

You're right, vitamin D is needed in order to absorb calcium...I don't know of any tricks to make remembering any easier though

If I was making a trick to remember, I'd either do that they are in backwards abc order or this very stupid bit: "Dee (meaning vit D) calcium is in dee bones."

Or a sentence like: You need your vitamins to have strong bones.

I sometimes find concepts easier than factoids
