Cabrillo College wait list...moving very slowly

Published

I've been on the wait list for 2 YEARS now, and I'm still only in the 200's. (248) It's very discouraging, especially since I moved very little in the last posting. Does anyone here have experience with this program? If I don't see significant movement with the next posting, I'm giving up. :crying2:

Since I just applied this summer, I have no idea how fast or slow is the waiting list. At the beginning, I was #903 then #784 in October.

When I went there to inquire, there was no program. Glad to see they have reinstated it, for at least some people.

i have been on the list since june 07 and am now going to start in fall 2011!!

Four years is a long time. What have you been doing to keep busy in all this time?

my children are 1,3,5 & 7, so I have been knee deep in it :) I was also a cadaver lab TA for couple of years, had my ankle surgery done so as not to deal with it later (in school or while working)... other than that, just enjoying my relative freedom from work (paid work) & school.

Well, I am certainly glad you are able to start at last. Do well and graduate. Those kiddies will be proud when their mom becomes a nurse!

Congratulations Heather!! Four years is a long time to wait! Best of luck to you!

thanks... i explored every other option out there (I have a BA as well) and either they wanted me to jump through crazy hoops (like take 20 units at their school, then get waitlisted) or they wanted to charge astronomical fees (because of the BA I am considered a grad student even if I am not going for a higher degree)... so I just decided to invest this time into my family, they will never be this young again and I will probably never have this much time off again (until I am a grandparent). What number are you now? are you sticking with the waitlist or looking elswhere? I have also relacated to so-cal since these 4 yrs and now I will be flying back and forth weekly!

Cabrillo is my backup plan if all else fails. I've been on the wait list for over two years and I'm still in the 200's! I've applied elsewhere and am waiting to hear back from that. It's wonderful that you've been able to use the waiting time to spend with your family. So have you had to deal with people asking you "are you ever going to start?!!!

yeah, lol they finally just figured out to ask me my # every march and oct :) I figured I waited this long to finally persure my goal (after BA way back in 98), it would just be more running around and waiting to persue other options --- i had a guaranteed spot so why bother with it, ya know. I am lucky to have a husband that can support us (within reason) and I was about to spend this time simply being a mom.

I am new to this message board but I am just feeling a bit discouraged. I have been on the wait list since June/09 (2 yrs), my number is still 376 :( I have only moved down 100 spots in the last year. I started at 796 and moved fairly quickly the first year, but now I am starting to get worried. I can deal with waiting two more years but do you think it will be more than that? i am in the mean time raising my kids and trying to enjoy them while they are young but money is starting to get tight :(. If any one has any words of advice or encouragement it would be very much appreciated.
