CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

Specializes in Medical Surgical.

I think what they mean is that transcripts were received but your summary of your related learning experience summary was not attached. Including the hours of clinicals in every rotation, where and when you had your clinicals, what ward you were assigned to including skills lab. you should contact the school if they were able to send a summary.

While waiting for my eligibility to CO I totally forgot about my CA application they last sent me a letter asking for my cases which was mailed to them by my school like couple of months ago. I got a letter from them yesterday telling me to just send in documentation about my name coz it looks like I forgot to write my second name in the application. bummer

Hi Kkimmy08,

Normally, schools mailed the BRN transcript, RLE, and educational breakdown together but I guess it was different on your case. Like, Kuyafern was describing it is the list of your clinical rotation, duty hours, unit, subject description, I think that is the general data that you can see on a RLE summary. Likewise, you should probably ask your school about that requirement, since every school I THINK SHOULD issue one.

Good thing, they wrote you again :) in my case I've already complied ALL the requirements about 2 months ago but I haven't heard anything from them!

Still, hoping that I can slip thru their nonpermeable membrane, cross finger and in God's grace

Hi! I think I'm one of you guys. I've just received a letter from BON CA that my NCLEX-RN application was denied and I'm required to complete additional course work, in short need to enroll to school AGAIN! :drowning:

By the way is there anyone here tried to contact the schools (from the list of approved schools provided by BON) and planning to fix their documents? Any advice or updates regarding this concurrency issue? thanks

Awww, I haven't received a letter response from them yet! May I know how many months it took before they sent you message?? appreciate your response!

In my case, it has been 2 months since I complied with the additional requirements and up to date haven't heard anything.

About the schools, I think if you try to go back with in this thread, you can find recommended schools by the users who had been denied from their application. However, if I remember it correctly, some of the school here CA doesn't offer a special course to cater the demand of the BRN, but instead you need to take the entire program. :(

Normally,it takes 2-3 months when you are a first timer applicant to get s response from the RN board.

Hi Ms. dragon_lady

I really do appreciate your response! I think it will be just a leap of faith! Hoping for a good news, in God's grace! I should make a countdown, 2 months down... one month to go!

And Thank you.

Honestly, I don't. How I wish i found this thread before I passed my application so I know what to do and not, but I think this just bound to happen that after I passed my application, out of nowhere, I just search on things about foreign nursing and I stumbled with this. And the rest are only trust, faith and prayers.

Personally, I really don't have any plan if things turn out to be different, since in the first place I don't have any capability [financially] to re route, so I guess, I'm just one of the hopefuls that situation may favor me.

But again thank you! God bless

Hello everyone!! I don't even know how to start...I went back to the Philippines to finished nursing school but when I applied back here (California) for NCLEX-RN, I was denied because of concurrency issue. Of course, they wanted me to go back to school which I'm willing to do but the letter does not state specifically what classes I needed to take & that the Director of Nursing School will decide which classes will be credited. What if I have to take it all.

Seriously?? You mean they did not stipulate any recommendation at all. That's pretty new! Majority, if im not mistaken, were being suggested to take MS or OB subjects on the case of concurrency, so, is it possible that they want you to take the entire program because in the first place its odd that they just leave the decision to the director of nursing [nursing school].

I am starting to think that this concurrency issue is just a tip of iceberg, that THEY JUST DONT WANT TO ACCEPT FOREIGN GRADUATE. Hope its not.

By the way did you happen to submit the same format and same document from the PRC for the RLE clinical rotation schedule??
