I passed the nclex 1985 ,i have a nursing license but my original state of licensure does not have me documented as having a license in its state. Is it possible to retake the nclex to establish an original state of licensure.

How can you have a nursing license but not have a license in the state where you got your license? How have you been practicing nursing? How did your employers verify your license? You should be able to clear this up by showing your physical license to the Board in your state and get them to take care of the situation. They will let you know if they are going to require you to start over with the NCLEX and a new application.

Does it have a record of you ever having had a license there? It sounds like you just let that license expire, in which case it seems like all you'd have to do to reinstate it is to get an endorsement or maybe even pay a fee?

Endorsed state is not willing to lookup application, which would have my original state of license.i had taken nclex in europe on military base.1987. Returned to usa `1988 went to panama invasion, was there for 2 yrs, came back to states and endorsed my license to present state . I have worked in present state 20 years as a nurse.director of operations refuses to allow any information out of file that has original license application information which was by endorsement to my present state.thats why i asked the question.

see reply and thanks !
