I'm starting my Masters Entry program this June and my mom wanted to buy me a stethoscope for my birthday.
The school says I need a "dual tube stethoscope with changeable sizes of diaphragm and bell attachments"
That's great and all BUT I have NO idea what that means ... nor do I know what the good kinds are once I figure it out.
Can any one shed some light on this for me?
Thank you in advance!

I'd start with this site and go from there. There are TONS of "ears" out there. My MIL bought my first one. I've had the tubing replaced 3 times and it's still serving me well after 25 years!

I bet this is what your school is talking about and it is what I started school with (although I am nowhere near a Master's...) http://www.amazon.com/Prestige-Medical-Sprague-Stethoscope-Frosted/dp/B001CTHTC0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1239071674&sr=8-3
I did upgrade to a littman classic when the folks wanted to get me a birthday present, fits in my pocket better, but I hear just fine with the sprague. Plus, no one wants to borrow the cheap ones =)
Thanks so much for your responses!
I think the Sprauge is what they are talking about, hopefully I'll know for sure... Maybe I'll have my mom hold off on getting me one until I want a fancy one if the Sprauge is only $15 :-)
