Hello I'm starting the lvn program this fall just wanted to know of anyone else starting soon. What are you studying? Do you have any ideas for me personally? How to improve critical skills? I'm reading Fundamentals of Nursing right now and I'm on chapter 7 going to learn how to use my stethoscope, I got a really good one! Be careful on this site some of the nurses can be a little rude I've noticed. (Not saying who or anything!) I've heard of so many bad things with clinical I hope what I hear is not true. Will not mention it here as I don't think I'm allowed.
My name is Jake and hope to hear from some of ya!
I'm probably not going to be the smartest student. I started out at butte with lead classes and struggled all the way through. I have no shame admitting I'm an R.S.P. student out of high school and I'm 38 years young (heh) and for the last 13 years I helped raise three kids. I haven't really did much of anything else. I started at butte thinking I was going to be a teacher, but after a few years I began looking at nursing.
I have a long background of nursing in my family with a total of six. My older brother is a CNA and by far the real back bone of any hospital and if anyone disagrees you probably don't know what a CNA is. One of my friends is going through the CNA program right now and will be signing up for the LVN program when it is offered next. I think being a CNA first is probably a good idea.
Anyways.. If your at butte or somewhere else give me some input about the LVN program. ALSO! Can someone tell me how much harder the RN PROGRAM is? I hear different things.

I am hoping to apply to the LVN program this summer after I finish up a summer physiology course. How long did you have to wait to get into the program? Were you placed on a wait-list, like the RN program is?
Thanks and good luck to you!
