BSN/ RN New Grad Prospects in Asheville (& Surrounding Areas)?

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hey folks! Just wondering what the job market is looking like in Asheville and vicinity for a new grad with a BSN?? I know some hospitals/clinics prefer ASNs and some prefer BSNs and so forth. Trying to suss out the likelihood that I'll be hired upon graduation. Relocation isn't an option. Also, where do you all suggest working (i.e. hospitals/ floors/ clinics that are friendly to new grads or especially team oriented, etc)?

Thanks for your help/ advice~

I know this original post was almost a year ago, but I too am wondering the same thing. I will be graduating December '11 and there is very, very few job openings in savannah, ga where I currently am. My hubby will be getting out of the army shortly after I graduate and we would really like to move to the Asheville area, of course pending that the job market is better than here in Savannah. I will be getting my BSN as well, and am wondering the exact same things as the original post above.... thank you so much!

If you are looking to work at Mission, don't plan on making a lot of money. Since there is no competition in the area, they don't pay their nurses very much.

On the other hand, the staff are HANDS DOWN the best I have ever worked with. It is a very nice hospital and in my opinion, well run.

What is the outlook for a new RN grad? Are they open to hiring grads from other areas... do they preceptor you for awhile too.

I guess it all depends on what you're looking for, but personally, I think the job situation here sucks. This is a nice city, but the job market's a real pinch.
