Hello All,

I began a second degree in Nursing in my home city of Boston in Fall 2002.

I am now moving to Los Angeles this spring (my fiance is in the Air Force and will be stationed there) I have applied to Cal State LA and Long Beach for this fall, but it doesn't look like I will get in due to not being a resident yet.

I am looking for advice on to what schools are good in the area or if anyone is a current student or former student of a LA area BSN program. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Check out discovernursing.com for all private and public schools in cali. la is a huge town so knowing where you will be living will help narrow your search. commuting time is based on hours sitting in traffic rather than distance so you'd want to go to a school close to your residence. this will keep you sane and avoid premature greying. for example, the distance b/t cal state la and cal state long beach is an hour drive with semi traffic. most schools are impacted so start your school research asap.

Besides both CSULA and CSULB, I think Mount Saint Mary's may be the only school left in the area. Be it, I'm not a nursing student yet (taking pre-reqs now), but I've heard good things (from this board) as well as seen the campus and liked the people. It is expensive, somewhere in the range of $35,000 for their accelerated BSN program, and about 20,000 per year for their traditional BSN. I also believe Cal State Dominguez Hills has a BSN program, but I'm not sure if its a bridge (rn-bsn), traditional, or accelerated...it might be worth looking into. In any case, good luck!!!
