Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am graduating with my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in December 2018. Before I got in the Masters program, I wanted to be a registered nurse. Instead of applying for the nursing program, I finished my then major communication degree and went for a masters. I have finished all the prerequisites for nursing but may need to retake two classes because my grade was below a C. I love both nursing and clinical mental health field. I would love to do both.

Would it be smart to go get my nursing degree, BSN?

I'm unsure of the jobs, I will have available that will utilize my masters and potential nursing degree at the same time. I don't wont my masters degree to go to waste but I would really like to pursue my BSN.

Please give me advice below.

Nurses can certainly work in mental health, but they don't need a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to do it. It seems like you've got this all backwards, to me. It would make more sense to decide what you'd actually like to do, then get the education to go along with it ...not get the education and then try to find a job that utilizes every degree.
