BS Chem to CRNA?

Hello-

Just wondering if anyone could shed any light onto CRNA programs. I am currently in school (starting pre-reqs next semester) to get my associates in nursing. I would ideally like to pursue a career as a nurse anesthetist. I like chemistry, especially dealing with pharmacy/drug interactions. However, my grades don't really reflect this... I have a 3.3 GPA in my chem degree. And I know they look highly on the science grades and mine are "okay" in chemistry, but I strugged in college for a variety of non-collegiate reasons. I wish I could take back, but I can't now. I don't want my GPA to hurt me once I apply to a CRNA program. So, is there anything I can do to help increase my chances of being accepted into a CRNA program after my experence as a CCN?

You would need to get your BSN before CRNA.

Not all programs require a BSN but it will be a lot easier to get in if you have one. Look into an online BSN program that you can complete while you are working in an ICU. And try for a 4.0 or as close to it as you can from here on out. Honestly though, having your BS in chemistry as well as your BSN will help you when applying. CRNA schools love high level science courses especially organic and biochem. Other things you can do to stand out are have a solid GRE score, good ICU experience, have your CCRN certification, etc.

Its a catch-22 I know of a uni you don't need a BSN but atleast 1 yr ICU, good luck. Plus I know a girl in the crna program and she had 2yrs icu exp and most if not all want adult not peds. I like children over adults care more hope.
