Brown Mackie Indianapolis Lpn program?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Hi, First off let me say I've been reading for years now but this is my first post. This is a great resource for questions, that's for sure. My wife is an RN and I'm going for my LPN and at some point to my RN. Yes, I'm wanting to become a male nurse, and I'm not at all discouraged by the low number of men that do this, lol.

So I went to Ivy tech to apply and the program is almost impossible to get into from what I'm hearing. The TEAS/core classes score has to be A's in my region and a high TEAS score to match to get into the LPN or ASN program. I've either got to retake an English Class I received a B in and *hope* I get accepted or find another college. 2 of the colleges here require perfect school records along with a high SAT. Brown Mackie is the only one I could fine that didn't.

So, I'm exploring this option. I've read some good and a lot of bad.

Has anyone attended this campus and program?

What are the costs associated with it?

Is it near impossible to complete?

Is it harder to get a job with a brown mackie degree than Ivy Tech?

As a brown mackie LPN can you do the ASN program?

I can complete in 12 months with my previous work done already from Ivy Tech. Is this too short to retain what I need to know to be the best nurse I can be?

Should I just wait it out a few times to get into the lpn program at Ivy tech or do the Brown Mackie thing?

I knw, that's a lot of question. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I have a church member that goes to that school and She Love's It! but she said you have to be really focused on it. I will get more info from her and try to email it to you

I attended a Brown Mackie in Indiana. I had no problem passing my boards and I really enjoyed the one class a month sched. However, I ended up with around $20,000 in student loans. Brown Mackie is considered a private school and they have the price tag to go with it. They are nationally accredited but their credits will not transfer if you would want to further your education. I took all of my pre-reqs at an Ivy Tech, so that helped me save some money and when I'm ready to go back to school, I shouldnt have to retake them. Plus taking the pre-reqs at Ivy Tech will save you a lot of money.

Good Luck.

WOW that is a lot of money for LPN. I'm thankful for getting into Ivy Tech's program!

OP: Seems to me it would be cheaper to retake your English at $100 a credit hour and reapply if you don't make it in. Also, try applying at some of the other nearby campuses. You may not make it into the campus that is closest to you, but at another campus you may apply and make the ASN program instead. Several of my classmates drive 1 hr/+ to class and clinicals because they made the ASN program here but not in their hometown. But for an 18 month/less than $6000 degree, it's worth it to them.

I don't know anything about Brown Mackie. Good luck to you.

I realize you have probably started Brown Mackie by now, but there is another nice school on the northside called J. Everett Light you should check it out if it's not too late
