I replied to you on the other thread, but now I have a little more info here.....

First, did you take either a SYG or gen Pys class for your BA? I'm guessing you had to take one of those, and that you have a humanities class in there somewhere, too.

So, this leads me to what you have left. You're taking A&P2 this summer, so the only pre-req you have left is CHM. Then, all you would have left is Micro to complete the nursing program at BC, aside from the actual nursing classes. I don't know what your schedule is like for your A&P2 class at MDC, but there is a CHM class at BC, but it is at north campust, and that runs from 6/29-8/11. Its M-TH from 8am-9:50am (ref#368554). There is another at the Downtown Center (off Broward Blvd, near Federal Hwy) that runs also from 6/29-8/11 Mon-Thurs but that one is from 1pm-2:45pm (ref# 370615). The deadline to apply for Jan 2010 is in Sept, so you would be able to apply for the Jan class. You would still have to take Micro, however, your first summer in the program you will have 6 weeks off and you would be able to take Micro during that time. It would be best to take it before you're in the program, but others have done it.

Another option is MDC has a CHM that starts on 9/28 so you can take that in the fall (ref #521920), then you would be eligible to apply for the May 2010 program. You might want to call and see if they are planning on having a generic May program again in 2010. From what I understand, every May they've had the LPN transition program, but last May they added a Generic RN program, too. I don't know if that means they will do that every year from now on or not. My guess is that they will because there are so many people applying to the Jan and Aug programs. I would call to check first and see. Then, after taking that CHM in the fall, you can take Micro in Jan while you are in the process of applying to the May program. By the time you start in May, you'd be done with all the other classes you need.

Now as far as the LPN program......my opinion is that if it is your goal is to become an RN, then I would just go to BC. Its going to take you an extra year longer and its going to cost $4000 more to become an LPN first. The only pro's to being an LPN first is 1) you can work after a year, and go back in the future to get your RN, and 2) you are pretty much guaranteed to get into the LPN program because there are plenty of spaces and not enough applicants. But as long as your grades are solid, which it seems they are so far, then there wouldn't be any reason why you wouldn't get into BC. What was your grade for ENG1101?

OH OH having seconds thought bout that reference number LOL take a look http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=795452 Thats the teacher that will be teaching that class...

Yeah, maybe taking that class is not a good idea :)

jam, I clicked on the link on ratemyproffessor from the post above..

and I actually took him for microbiology lab... and he's actually not a bad teacher. I missed probably 2 or 3 classes because I had surgery.

if you do everything he says in the book you will be fine, and follow instructors and you are fine. I ended up with a B because I slacked on the first project, but on the second project I did well...... I got all the sheets from the book needed, and the homework... went to kinko's and had the book binded like a notebook, turned it in and did well. Presentation of the homework is the key.

kinda late for this post, but I was lurking around .... lol

i took chem already with E.C. I got an A.. I am taking Micro now with J.C. then I am done!!! whoo hoo!!! and i just finished my heath core!!! just waiting on form

awesome! You are doing so well!! You will do so good in the nursing program because you seem so determined to do this!!

Hey, I recently spoke with and advisor from the Atlantic Tech, and they say that they are taking applications for Fall 2012!

Im guessing since Sheridan,Atlantic and McFadder are "sister" schools that they all are full until 2012. Best Wishes, The journey to become a nurse is not always an easy road to travel.
