I applied for the summer nursing program a week ago. Anyone else applied for the summer term? What was your GPA and Hesi a2 score? I’m so scared.

Definitely not the only one! I am nervous but I've already been studying the nursing math and have read a few chapters in the perry and potter book.
Hello future nursing students, I am a broward college nursing student attending North campus. I started in summer of 2018 and remember how stressful it was leading up to it. I am currently in my last specialty and will be in Ortho/Neuro in the summer. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.

Thanks you so much. How was pharmacology and the math class? Was they hard. Do you have any notes you can share. I’m scared. I want to be more prepared cause summer classes are hard. Any advice?
I had a different professor for pharmacology that took it easy on us. If you are at North campus you will have Mrs Fola who is great but I don't know how her pharm class is. Pharm is all memorization so it really wasn't that bad. You will need to remember the information throughout the program though. The math is not hard once you get the hang of it. I am awful at math and I did well with it. The nursing club will come to talk to all of you and let you know about math tutoring. I usually help with it so you might see me there. The big thing to focus on in the beginning is the physical assessment. Nursing exams are nothing like anything you have done before. All the answers might be correct, but you have to figure out the priority. Do practice questions after you read every night. In process, if you take good notes in class and go over the powerpoints you will be fine.
Also, don't waste your money on all the books they tell you to get. You won't even open some of them. You will definitely need the fundamentals book, jarvis, clinical skills, math, and pharm book. I never opened any of the workbooks. As far as notes, all my stuff is hand written so I can't really share it. You will want to take your own notes though anyway so you can remember the information.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. This site have a lot of horrible stories about the program.
No problem. I heard the horror stories too going into this, but I also know that it has the best reputation for preparing students to be nurses. All broward graduates get hired and the NCLEx pass rate is like 97%. It is a very tough program. I am one of maybe 10 people left from my original starting class of 100 that did not retrack (yet). I had to work hard and give up so much to do this. I quit my job during GI/GU because it was too much. It will be worth it though. If you want it enough, you will make it. I had no medical experience and was awful with math before starting this and I have made it this far. If I can do it, anyone can. Good luck to all if you.
Thanks again. Good luck also.
