Can someone tell me how long it takes to complete El Centro as compared to Brookhaven's 16 month program? Does Brookhaven have a two year program?:confused: Please let me know.
Thanks!

My neighbor went to El Centro, and I start Brookhavens program in Aug. She told me at El Centro they went four semesters Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring. So it ended up being a 16 month program, but they did it with summer break in the middle, and it took 24 months.
At Brookhaven we will do Fall, Spring, Summer, Fall which is also 16 months, but with no summer break. The whole program will take 16 months from start to finish. As far as I know they do not have a 24 month program at Brookhaven, only a 16 month.

Coolpeach can you recommend some good professor's at BHC as far as the science courses are considered? What do you advise that I do in order to pass those classes? I have never had a science course in college so I don't know what to expect. My first one will be CHEM in Aug.
Teady,
I wish I could help as far as professors, but I took almost all of my pre reqs at Richland. The only classes I have taken at BHC are Spanish, and End of life issues. I will start their full time in the nursing program in Aug so I better get used to the longer drive.
As far as passing the majors science classes...... You are on the right track. Ask everyone about professors, and check out pick a professor, and rate a professor online. I think a lot of times the professor can make or break you. For chemistry make sure you don't miss class. The whole course builds on itself and missing one class will cause you great confusion especially when it comes to the calculations. It's also important that you really take great notes (lots of detail). For the A&P's detailed notes are also important. I actually wrote notes, but also used a voice recorder. I bought a cheap small dry erase board from Walmart to draw and label the body systems etc. I also bought index cards, a package of rings, and a hole punch and made flash cards which I carried with me everywhere. Plan to spend a lot of time studying for A&P. I really think of all the courses it required the most. In addition, it's important that you pay attention, really learn the material (not just memorize and forget the physiology), and get all you can out of it. Remember there is an A&P section on the Hesi A2 entrance exam, and to me it was the hardest part of the Hesi. Not to mention that you will continue to refer back to what you learned in A&P throughout. I thought micro was pretty easy, and by the time you finish both A&P's you will be a pro at the science classes, and I am sure you will fly right though micro.
Oh coolpeach that's fine that you went to Richland. I used to attend there like a year ago. If you can recommend some teachers there that would be great also.

A&P 1&2 - Dr. *** (really really really really GREAT)
Chemistry - ***** (we called her by her first name) She is the head of the chemistry department so if you say ***** they will know who your talking about.
Micro - I took an instructor who's name started with an *. I can't remember his name, but he was just ok. I think their might be better.

moved to tx nursing programs forum.
also wanted to post a terms of service reminder.
it is against the terms of service to post names of school faculty on the public board. it is better to communicate this information via pm.
