Interview at 11:20 on Tuesday! My points were 30.59. Good luck to everyone! I'm sure we will all do well!

Des anyone have any idea what questions they will ask on interview and for the written portion?

This came from the Fall 2014 forum...

"This is how it went 2 years ago when I went through the interview process. Things might have changed since then though so don't fully rely on my experience.

There were a panel of 4-5 nursing instructors. I interviewed alongside 4 other prospective students. Each of us were asked 2 questions and while we were answering we were scored by each instructor on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best). We did not get to see these scores. After the interview our interview scores were averaged and that average (1-5) was added to our overall score. We did not do a writing sample.

Questions we were asked were behavioral questions such as:

-Why nursing?

-Explain a time when you were overwhelmed, what did you do and what would you do differently now?

-Name and describe 3 qualities you think a nurse must have

-Explain a time when you had to work with a person that you didn't get along with. How did you deal with this person? What would you do differently now?

-How do you manage stress in your life?

-etc.

Some tips:

-After being asked a question, it is OK to take a moment to think about the answer. Before you answer take a deep breath and think about what you want to say.

-The panel of instructors are super nice and you will grow to love them during nursing school!

-It is totally OK to ask for them to repeat the question! I did several times ;)

-Dress in business attire. NO high heels (a slight heel is fine) or cleavage bearing tops! If you don't have a business suit that is fine, just wear some nice slacks and a blouse.

I hope you all do wonderfully! :) I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you!"

Haven't found specifics, but found this on the writing sample...

"Yes the writing is new, I was bummed to see that because I was already nervous about the interview! I went to talk to admissions about it because I really didn't know what a writing sample meant, they told me is was mostly just to see that you could write, spell, speak english, the lady I talked to didn't seem to think it would be too much of a problem."

That's what I was told also when I went up and spoke to a nursing advisor.
