Bronx Community College Fall 2017

So I'm in my first semester at BCC and I'm currently taking all my prerequisites. I'm interested in taking the TEAS V exam in the spring and applying for their nursing program here. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has been bashing their nursing department! Saying the teachers don't care about the students and that they leave you to teach yourself. I even met a girl that had a relative that attended the nursing program here at BCC 20 years ago and she said the program was so difficult only 2 people from the program graduated. 2!!! Now I'm hearing something about a waiting list to get into their nursing program?!? The nursing program that everyone says is ******?!? I don't have time for a waiting list! I still want to stay here at BCC because it's **** cheap and close to home but I've been considering applying for other nursing schools once I pass all my prerequisites. Any good schools you guys can suggest in NYC/Westchester? Thanks in advance.

I can't really say if the program is good/bad. However, I will say that every nursing program is pretty much teach-yourself-all-you-can format. Most teachers lecture, do not teach. So it is up to you, as a student, to engage, ask questions, do your work, and teach yourself the material. I think if you are truly dedicated, and very much invested in your education, you will graduate. As far as schools go, many CUNY schools have ASN programs and only few, like York, Lehman and Hunter, have BSN programs.

@FutureNurseInfo Thanks for the feedback. I've heard that as well. Hopefully I'll get into their nursing program next fall. Fingers crossed.

Hello , I know this thread is old but I'm in need of help. I'm also doing my prerequisites now and I'm hearing the exact same information. Are you currently in bcc's nursing program???
