Congrats on getting accepted......I am going into my last year at brockton....it's a tough program but stay focused and you should do fine.
Do you have any of your sciences finished?.....you'll be much better off if you have transferred some classes in.
Any questions feel free to ask :)
Good Luck!

HI Seniorstudent09,
Congratulations for completing your first year. I am also in the 8-09 class. I have an Associate of Science degree already so I was REALLY surprised that more courses weren't accepted?!
I am now retaking my anatomy & physiology for review.
Would you be able to list what a typical semester would entail, classwise that is. Since my Englishes are done, 1 psych and speech I think, oh also my anatomy & phys. 1&2. Did you think I will have a good start? Did you have more classes under your belt when you started?
Thank you so much, I have so many questions.
Patti:yeah:
Please anyone if you can answer any questions, i didn't realize the last post was so old!
hey patti,
Congrats on getting accepted.....
If you are starting the full time day program......your first year will look like this:
Semester 1:
A and P 1 (3hrs lecture 2 hours lab/week....may not be on the same day)
psychology (3 hrs lecture...not sure if you taken this yet)
math for nursing (3 hrs lecture)
NU 101..Fundamentals (4 hours lecture...usually on wed if i remember then 12 hours lab on thur and fri for the first month then 12 hours clinical)
I only had to take math and nursing so not sure about the teachers for the other classes....but i heard they are pretty good.....
It may seem overwhelming at first but just keep up with the course work and you'll be fine.....
I did manage to work full time the first 2 semesters but i did transfer in psych, ap 1 and 2, and english 1...after that i did have to cut back to 3 days a week.
Any more ques feel free to ask.....good luck.
Seniorstudent09,
Thanks for your quick response, it looks like my 1st semester will be much like yours since my English 1 & 2, Psych and anatomy & Phys. 1&2 have been excepted as transfers.
What did you find the hardest about the program on the whole? This has been a loong time in the works, so I am anxious to find out as much as I can.
For me....the hardest part of the first 2 semesters was trying to juggle work and school.
The hard part of the first semester is trying to learn the basics of nursing, nursing terminology, and all your skills....it is alot of material to learn in the beginning. There are 4 tests in the semester then a final....and also your med math test which you have three chances to pass. I think passing on the math test for first semester is 80 or 85%.
Having classes transferred in helped alot...so that works to your advantage. Especially right now we are halfway through the second to last semester and nursing is really tough nevermind the extra classes
Each semester gets more difficult as far as material and testing.
But there are many instructors willing to help students they see struggling...
btw.....what is the waitlist like now??

Hello everyone,
My name is Julie and I am very interested in getting into the BHSN. My mom attended some 20 years ago and I want to follow in her footsteps. I am currently a Freshman at UMASS Dartmouth studying psychology but I have my heart set on switching to nursing. I have a few questions that I hope somebody can answer :)
1. Is there a BHSN website?
2. what classes should I focus on taking 2nd semester here at UMASS to correspond to the cirriculum at BHSN, in hopes of attending next fall?
3. how many credits are the coureses at BHSN?
4. what is the deadline for applications for those applying for next Fall.
Thank you so much for reading this. Any information is really helpful. I really appreciate it!
