This health care provider provides reasonable care for patients at the expense of it;s low wage, hired help. Brightstar CNA s are paid a fixed rate of $24 for a 1 hour client visit or $12 for anything under an hour. The CNA must drive to each client at their own expense. Also, most CNA s are hired only part time in order for Brightstar to not have to pay any employee benefits. This would not be so unfair, however, Brightstar habitually shorts the CNA s number of calls they make in a given work day and the CNA does not find out till the next week when they get paid. Sometimes a CNA may make 5 or 6 calls to clients in a work period, only to find they got paid only $24 to $36 for working 6 to 7 hours and driving 50 to 60 miles at their own expense!
This should be looked into because Brightstar then tells it s CNA s that it is non profit and must keep costs low. . . all the while paying administrators very large salaries and those who sit on the BOD getting massive perks. Brightstar is not the only Care provider paying low wages and cheating employees. This is an employment issue that should be looked int across the Care provider industry. Many are so called not for profit . . . . but benefit those at the top with HUGE salaries, bonuses, and perks all not under much of any scrutinization,
How do others experiences compare. Please take Poll:

Call the Department of Labor in your state and report them. They will be investigated.
When I was a CNA I received $10/hr plus 44 cents per mile.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Home care agencies have been getting away with things like this for a long time now. all you have to do is read the posts on this board to know that many nurses pretty much accept the fact that they will have to frequently work overtime that won't be compensated.
