Brigham & Women's Orientation

Hi,

I have been a nurse for the past 9 years, four of which as an LPN. I mainly have nursing home experience and would like to start working in a hospital.

I tried to " break in" a few years ago at a major Boston hospital ( I'm from Boston) without success. I found it hard to adjust. I heard that the Brigham has a very good orientation. Has anyone been through it or have any advice?

I hear it is very hard to get into the Brigham! You almost have know one of the "founding fathers" just to be granted an interview. Sorry I cant offer anything more. Good luck!

Hey there Blueflyer! Are you a LPN or RN? I know that the Brigham and MGH are quite militant on whether or not one has a BSN. I also was searching for a job at a Boston hospital for months before getting an interview...it was frustrating...HR seemed really overwhelmed.

I have been an RN with an ASN for the last five years. I was offered a position at the Brigham several months after i got out of school with little experience as an RN. ( I had several years of experience as an LPN in a nursing home.) I also worked at MGH for 2 months, but it did not work out there. So I don't know about needing a BSN- things might have changed since I applied four years ago. But I do agree that HR takes a while!
