Breckinridge Portland, HESI A2 Entrance Exam

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hey all!

Just wondering if anyone knows how competitive it is to get into ITT Tech Breckinridge program in Portland? I'm taking the HESI A2 entrance exam Friday and was wondering if anyone had any tips for the test or knows roughly how many people test for each cohort? I know they take the top 30 scores but was wondering out of how many roughly? I've read a couple threads but was interested in responses from Oregon, though any/all advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :)

Thanks so much for the info!! How far into the program are you? Part of our concern is that they have been a little flakey with returning phone calls and they don't always answer our questions. Do you know how long their RN to BSN bridge program is? He is transfering over all his classes, so the cost is more than a community college, but still not too bad. He was supposed to start in March, but because there is a week overlap between the community college and ITT, financial aid wont cover it at all. He is planning to defer to summer, but they are just putting his test score back into the applicant pool. They couldn't promise him a spot, but they told him not to retake his HESI. Hopefully he will still get in. Do you feel like the teachers are good about covering material and prepping you for clinicals? Thank you so much for your help!!!

Hello! So, here's what I know. He can only take the test once every 3 months, if he defers then he runs the risk of not being in the top 30. When the tests run for June he's not going to qualify to test again. So unless his score was in the 99 range there's a good chance of not getting in...They are going through a bit of administrative transition so I'm not surprised that calls aren't immediately being returned. The person I highly recommend he talk to is Tina, the nursing coordinator. She's awesome and honest. As far clinicals go, I don't know first hand. I haven't started them yet. But I've talked to a bunch of people and they all felt really prepared for them. Also, the nurses have been really impressed with our program and haven't mode precepting ITT students which says a lot.

I saw my friend yesterday who I hadn't talked to in over a year. She graduated from itt (Orland park) back in may 13, she took her state boards and now is getting ready to start work at a hospital in Illinois in 2 weeks. She's starting in chamberlin (Tinley Park) in January 2014 to complete the RN-MSN program online. I to was skeptical of itt and the ability of being able to work at a hospital so I went to the information session last year but did not go take the entrance exam because I was listening to a bunch of negative people gathering outside right after the information session I didn't even know. They were saying that the school is NOT fully accredited and your paying all that money and your not going to be able to work in a hospital and other schools aren't going to except your credits. Sometimes it's good not to listen to the negative talk and follow someone who is on a positive path and making their dreams come true. (WHAT GOD HAS FOR YOU IS FOR YOU) They excepted all of my friends credits at Chamberlin and because she is already a licensed RN in the state of Illinois she is on her way to great success. Congradulations to her. I will be attended the information session on October 19, at Orland and hope to follow in her foot steps seeing I've been trying to get into a nursing program forever. I have all my pre requistes and I'm ready to make it happen!!! Many blessings to all the other skeptics out there who like myself fall pray to the negativity from others you may not now, this cause me to be doubtful I could've been way finished by now if I would've took the test and started the program last year.
