I am a first semester male student taking my pre-requisites to get into nursing school.

I need to interview a male RN on his profession for a career research parer. The problem is I don't know any male RN's. If anyone can help me, or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

I will post the Interview Questions in case someone wants to help me on this thread.

Career Interview Questions

To the person being interviewed; Answer these questions any way you like if you are a serious person by all means give serious answers, if you are a laid back person feel free to give laidback answers.

1.What is your official title? (e.g. Surgical Assistant RN)

2.Where do you work?

3.How long have you been in your current position?

4.How did you decide to enter the Nursing field?

5.What kind of education and training did you complete for your Nursing career?

6.What are the duties and responsibilities for your position?

7.What is your position in the food chain? (e.g. what are the positions of your immediate supervisor and your subordinate?

8.What do you like best about your job?

9.What is most difficult about your job?

10.What, about the job, would you change if you could?

11.What personal qualities are needed to be good at this job?

12.Where do you expect to go from your current position?

i am not a male, but can i give you a bit of advice????

Instead of posting the questions and getting typed up answers with no face to face interaction, I will encourage you to take advantage of the your local resources - go to the school's affiliated hospital - or your local hospital - better yet, go to the unit you think you want to work in, find the nurse educator for that unit and ask if there's any male nurses in that unit you could interview and the nurse educator will match you with someone who will be more than happy to talk to you! IF there's no male nurses in that unit, go down your list of interested units you like

Why am I telling you this? For a # of reasons:

1. You will get exposure to a unit you are interested in and ask questions that you may have regarding that specialty

2. You will be remembered by that unit when you are out looking for a job

3. You need to start networking with professionals from the very beginning of your school career - if you're like me, I was a frightened spring chicken when I started nursing school and the more you talk to practicing nurses, you will be more knowledgeable and aware of nursing as a field

AND finally #4: I can guarantee you will remember that interview for the rest of your life - dare I say, it may be life changing....:nurse:
