bought books at bookstore, but had I not, I would have missed.......

Published

I bought my books at the school bookstore due to a grant that has been awarded but not delivered yet.

When I picked up my intro to psyc book, the clerk said- "oh wait, you need this green paper". So I grab the green paper...

this is what I would have missed, as it is from our professor...

There are instructions on what to bring to the first class, and it goes into detail of how to access the stuff we need on our schools blackboard. There are numerous things that need to be printed off, filled out, brought in, and other papers that she expects us to bring with us to class that 1st day. Along with reading chapter 1 in our text.

My question is

There is nothing that says you HAVE to purchase your books at the school bookstore....so WHY would this teacher do this. The clerk did not know my name, and still doesnt, so its not like the professor is going to know who has their stuff and who doesnt until class begins.

Anyone else ever run into this?

Not sure why the instructor did this, but I am assuming that the one's who didn't have an excuss as to why they did not get the green paper.

What about those people that do not buy books until after the first class (my classes started monday and I bought books yesterday...)... a lot of people do not buy books until after the first class because they will find out that the teacher doesnt use this or that but the bookstore has it has a requirement.

I think it is pretty crappy for the professor to do that... not only is it unfair to the students that do not get books on campus but it is also unfair to the staff at the bookstore to have to keep up with the sheets for all the students. I know our bookstore is packed (I waited in line for almost an hour between getting in to get my books and checking out... and that was with "short lines").. so why put the pressure on them.

I have a feeling when you go to class there will be many students that have no idea about the green sheet or what they are supposed to have with them. The professor is going to have to understand because s/he can not guarantee that every student got the form. If they feel the need to have students do this they need to either contact them by email (most schools issue the student email address to professors) or call them... JMHO.
