Borders Bookstore going under, stock up?

Published

The bottom line:

Borders is going out of business, what books should I stock up on when the deals get good?

The story:

Borders bookstore is closing the doors to they're physical stores. The store nearest me has all they're medical books on a 10% discount. I went in today and saw that the discount was only 10% and nearly died laughing. I was expecting great deals like 60%, just like any other store closing I'd been too.

Anyways...

I know that as the actual store close date draws nearer the percentage of the sale will go up, and I'm told it will not raise higher than 65% at that particular branch. The medical reference section had been completely wiped out by the time I got there (and this is with the 10% discount) but the NURSING section was on the other side of the stalk and was virtually untouched! I'm assuming that people saw the medical section first, and never thought to look for the nursing section.

What books should I grab when the discount gets to be "actually worth it"?

Keep in mind that I'm considered a "pre-nursing" student, (as in I'm in school to become an MA, that I will then bridge to a become an RN) and already have several very extensive course books on MA, CNA and EMT/Paramedics. (My best-friends' mom teaches all those classes and gave me last years books)

I went this past weekend. I bought all the nursing made incredibly easy series that I could find. The nursing section here had been pretty well wiped but I was able to find some. I ended up spending about $200 on nursing books (only 10% off here in OKC too) I would rather get the small percentage off then wait and not be able to get them at all. I also snagged their last NCLEX from Saunders. I would personally recommend it. If you happen to be a borders plus member you get can get an additional percentage off, I unfortunately on had a regular borders membership. Happy Shopping!

Yeah I just went the other day (I'm in HI) and all medical related and medical reference and nursing books were only 10% off. The shelves were pretty much bare too! There was a ton of NCLEX-PN books if anyone is trying to become an LPN/LVN. I think I will save more ordering from amazon even without the discount.
