Books...Yowza

Published

I'm only taking the pre-reqs, but most of my previous classes at this school have been IT classes. I think for IT books on average I paid maybe $150 for 3 classes a semester. Checked all the book prices yesterday for my Bio, Microbiology, Soc and Psyc --- over $500!! Yeesh.

I bought my Microbiology book from Amazon and traded it in at the school book store at the end of the semester; it only cost about $20.00 for the use of the book. My chemistry book cost $240.00...that's insane so I rented it from Chegg.com for $70.00. I did not have $240.00 to spend and I wasn't sure if the book was being used again. I paid 60.00 for the required Study Guide and got back $34.00.

I kept my A & P books (they cost about $300.) I bought my Statistics book used and got back just what I paid for it. It all depends on the book and if it is going to be used again...or if you want it...or be "stuck" with it.

I have to say, though - despite the cost, I was never excited about getting IT books in the past. Got my Microbiology book in the mail today, and I was EXCITED. (Granted, I was kind of hoping it would be my Shutterfly calendars I ordered with my kids, ha, but nevertheless...) First time I've been very excited about getting textbooks. :redpinkhe
