I would like to know also... have you been accepted for fall 2010?
No, i graduated from there but i lost the book and i need the book to review. Good luck if you are entering in!
Thanks...took the TEAS a few days ago and won't find out if I am in until June 1st! The person who reviews scores and apps is out on vacation until then...torture!
When did you graduate?
I graduated in 01, crazy right. I deceided to just got to college for my RN i wasn't ready for nursing. I've been going to dutchess community college since 03 part time. Now i'm reconsidering doing lpn until i get my rn. I liked boces, the teachers care and they really help you understand and stress whats important.
I tried for my RN first and failed a class at DCC...couldn't get back in...very disappointed and down...got back up and here I am applying for BOCES. I liked DCC and wished it had worked out but life gets in the way sometimes. I will still go for my RN but would like to start working as LPN (if I get in somewhere!). I finally figured out what I want to do when I grow up and I'm not going to quit.
How far along are you in the DCC Nursing program?
I was in nursing 105 with ***, my heart is broken over it. Its a shame the class was not hard, but her final was 40% of the grade and it killed me. She is the worst teacher i've ever had. So many people fail her class! How about you did you have her, and when did you stop going? I looked into Orange Community but its kinda far and i don't know if my bios will be accepted cuz they have to be within 5 years, i heard theres a waiting list!! I'm still so upset i found out i failed yesterday and cried for 3 hours like a baby. Its not easy failing! But i had a lot on my plate, i have 2 kids, a full time job and i was so lucky to have lymes during it with a sick grandfather! You know when it rains it pours.

I am so sorry! I know how you feel. I did have her for 105. Half the class failed! I agree with you about her teaching ability! She really needs to retire. You can appeal though--and most likely be able to repeat the class. Contact the secretary before they have summer break.
I made it through 213--co close--only 1 semester left to go and then whammo. I had dropped 112 to take care of my father. I didn't even take the class but used up my one appeal for that. I got in the next semester but switched to the day program and continued no problem. Then when I failed 213 (by two points! 68) I was denied a second appeal. I was so depressed for months.
I am thinking about Mount Saint Mary College after working as an LPN for a while (notice I am positive that I will get into the boces program!!!) lol I have a degree from the mount already and wouldn't have to take all the liberal arts stuff. Anyway--one goal--one day at a time.
Take a deep breath..you are smart..you are woman..who balances many things on her plate and takes care of many people in your life...if RN nursing is what you want then it will happen!!!
Thanks for the encouraging words! Its awful that 1 teacher can shatter so many dreams! My hearts truely broken. It is depressing, but we will be even more greatful when we reach our goals. I'm trying to keep my head up. It is very challenging, i feel your pain for making it so far. Sounds like it was out of you control, and unfortuneatly life happens to us all. I'm sure you'll do great in boces, you'll find that you get so many more clinical hours, and hands on. The teachers were great when i went. Hope they are for you too, Please keep me posted on the text book name and author.
Will do!
I am in!!!! I was just accepted full-time into the Dutchess BOCES LPN program!!!
I will let you know about the books as soon as I know.
