I was accepted to Olivet Nazarene University's FNP program. Coursework will be online and clinicals will take place here in my state in Arizona. I contacted my board of nursing just to make sure that there were no problems with the program and that I could get licensed when I finish. All I got back was a 92 page document outlining the criteria they use for approval. When I spoke to Olivet they assured me that the CCNE accreditation covered all the requirements. I am just concerned that I will put in all this work only to find out that I can't get licensed in Arizona.
Anyone else run into a problem like this?

I don't know about that University in particular, but you can look on the Board website , they have a list of approved schools .
Best of luck and don't invest time and money before you know that is accredited.

You have got to be careful before starting a program - I know in Washington state there are very few out of state programs that are accepted. Most programs will not even bother jumping through the hoops if they are not already approved by the state BON. I found out the hard way after waiting for 4 months to be approved by UMKC that "oh, whoops - you're in Washington and can't be in our program." Luckily I found Creighton that was willing to fulfill the requirements so that I could participate.
Thanks for the info. What's funny is I did coma the my BON (Arizona) and they don't have a list of approved programs. They never did give me an official answer. They sent me a 72 pg document on things they look for when deciding if a program is approved for lisence in AZ. When I spoke to someone in person there for clarification I got a "well the school is accredited by CCNE and the HLC so you should be safe". Made me feel real confident.... I would think it is ok as it has the same accreditation as all the state schools but you never know.
The fact that they didn't say no we don't have out of state programs makes me feel better though.
When end I asked Olivet about AZ they said we have students in your state. Although I really don't trust that too much. But like I said my BON didn't say yes but didn't say no.
