BNAT @ Oakton versus Career Training Center in Chicago?

Published

Hello everyone!

I am new to the site and I have a couple of questions. Maybe more than a couple, so please bear that in mind that I am new to the field. First, I am interested in pursuing a career in nursing and in order for me to get into the nursing program at Oakton Community College, I need CNA certification. Oakton offers a Basic Nurses Assistant training course. It's ten weeks long, daytime, and it looks to be priced at a little of over a thousand dollars. Next, there is the for-profit career training center called Career Training Center on Peterson in Chicago. The program is four-to-five weeks long and is priced at around nine-hundred dollars. Would it be beneficial to me study at Oakton or Career Center? What are the reputations of both programs? Is Career Center legitimate? Is the program approved by the Illinois Board of Health? Is it a scam? What are the pros and cons of both programs?

Personally, I am leaning towards the Career Training Program because the duration of the program is shorter and it costs less than Oakton. But, I'm concerned about job placement and whether or not the facility offers alumni services to its graduates such as career placement help, career services and the like. Please help because I'm looking to start a CNA program in May. I'd like to have a job in the field in either June or July.

Thank You,

Pumpkinpastie
