I feel like a real dummy but I need help getting rid of this black eye my dog gave me. I gotta work tommarrow and I look like I've been beat up. A couple months ago a patient grabbed my upper arm and left finger prints. It was an accident... she was scared and grabbed me. I forgot all about it but had to do some real convinsing to co workers that my husband wasn't beating me.....then tonight my fat head dog jumped up and hit me right in the eye and now I have this black eye. Oh my goodness now what are they going to think. I wouldn't be surprised if they send out the police after him. Now just for the record I have a very kind mild mannered husband. I still don't know what I'm going to do about this black eye and going to work tommarrow.

I'm sorry for you, but there's nothing you can do now. Maybe if you keep repeating that story your co-workers will believe. But... it's your life! Who cares what the others think? You only have to feel happy because your dog's the one who hit you and not your husband! And glad because your husband wouldn't ever hit you!
Independent of what other people think you know the truth. :)

Well than just tell your coworkers the truth. Is there a reason why your co-workers suspect your husband? To me it sounds kind of fishy that they immediatley suspected your husband if there hadn't been other signs of abuse. Are you sure there is no abuse in the relationship?
Not trying to judge or offend, just understand. If it happened the way you said it did than it really shouldn't matter. And it shouldn't matter if your co-workers believe you or not. As long as there really is no abuse going on.

Very true! That really isn't my concern though :) I'm just wondering how the patients are going to feel with their nurse coming in with a black eye. Just wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom to make this thing go away.....by tommarrow morning.
Now that you mention it. The co worker that kept following me around stating..."Are you sure your OK... are you sure that wasn't your husband" .... turns out that her husband was abusive. Maybe not physically but mentally. He left her.....cleaned out their bank account. Wasn't until that happened that I found out about her abusive situation.
Thank you for your concern but it really was my 75 lb dog that got a little too happy jumped up and his nose banged me right in the eye.

Well it sounds like she was just looking out for you! :) How nice. I don't know of any remedies to get rid of a black eye over night. Sorry.

I always have bruises on me from my dogs. Heck, my nastiest, worst looking bruises came from my kids gerbils! They got loose a few times and while I was trying to catch them, I'd dive after them and end up getting serious carpet burn, bruises, or both. I bruise easily and get a lot of looks from people because of it. When I'm mad at my husband I'll tell him that I'll tell people he beat me....
:chuckle
(Note: I wouldn't ever tell anyone that...I just say it to be sarcastic)
