Biology exams

Anyone have really good tips on study for biology exams? I am taking bio I, and didn't do well on the first exam. I am not sure if I should make more notecards, and study them early, or read through his powerpoint, read the text before class and take notes from the book. Etc. Any tips would be great appreciated! :)

The only thing I could suggest is dont just memorize the material. Actually understand it. Be able to sit there and visualize what it is you're doing. Of course there is a lot of memorization, but for me it's all about the processes.

Good luck!

What have you been doing to learn the material and prepare for the exams? You have not mentioned anything about your current study methods, which makes it difficult to give suggestions on things you can do to improve. Few things I would suggest is read through the material before class, this way you have had exposure to what is being covered and will allow you to be able to focus on understanding things that you might have not have understood during reading. If you are allowed to record the lectures and go over them after class, using the recording to make more detailed notes, and reviewing things that did not click the first time. Make use of your instructors office hours, go over things that you might not be understanding, do this early don't wait until just before your exam or at the end of the semester to talk to your instructor.
