Big hospital or small hospital?

I work in a "medium" size hospital now and I think that it may be time for a change. I could go to a large hospital in the area, or a smaller hospital that does low risk births, similar to a birthing center but does c sections etc. So, I would like input, do you prefer large hospital, small hosptial, etc and why. Thanks so much for the input!!!!!

I'm kind of the "jack of all trades" type of nurse. We do +/- 100 deliveries a year, but that is not all our nurses do. I've never worked at a large hospital(L&D) but enjoy the 1:1 care that we give our patients. Yes at times I am the only OB nurse in house and the Doc may or may not be here, but thats what makes the job fun! Yes there are scarey times, but 2-3 people can do as good of a job in an emeregency as 10. If we have a bad baby or mom(or any type of patient) the plane or copter is only 30 minutes away.

So my vote is for small hospital.

I have worked in both too. At Your Cervix, what advantages for you are there in moving employment locations? How big is the big hospital you are thinking of moving to? How small is the small one?

I started this thread back in October because I was very unhappy at my current job and a group of MD's that I worked with had built a new small hospital. I was a little afraid to go there because it was LDRP's and I have never liked post partum or well baby nursery so I didn't know if I would like it. HOWEVER, I decided to give it a try. I quit my old job (HAPPY DAY, HAPPY DAY) and went for it!! And now, I love it, I can't believe that I thought that I wouldn't like LDRP's. I love taking care of mom's and babies, it is great!!!!!!! Thanks for all of the advice!!
