Big Bend CC versus Wenatchee Valley College

Published

Hi everyone. I am an equal distance between Moses Lake and Wenatchee, and I was wondering if anyone had an opinion about which has the better nursing program. I see Wenatchee has several more prerequisites, but that is okay if it is a superior program. Thank you for any guidance you can offer.

I am taking the prerequisites at WVC and have a friend in the nursing program here, she says it's great, very challenging but a great program. I don't know anything about Moses Lake, but just thought I'd add my 2 cents, although it's mid-October and you're probably in a school already :)

If it isn't to late to help you, DEFINITELY go to WVC. The BBCC program is a weed out program, they consistently drop between 10-15 students their first quarter alone, which is ridiculous considering they only take 30 to begin with. I speak from experience, i was in the program and made it 3 quarters, and i hate that school more then anything in this world, no joke. There are favoritism played big time, and if you get on a teachers bad side, you may as well quite then, because they will come up with some bogus to kick you out.

WVC on the other hand i hear is difficult but doable and a fairly good program. I have a friend in it now who has two quarters left after the current one before she is an RN (currently is a LPN through the first year there), she says its hard, but they take 60 student and have only dropped 7 in the first 5 quarters combined... pretty big difference between schools. I am hoping they do take a class for spring start this year (Spring 2012) because ill be applying to it.

I like the school in general, WVC, but i am in the xray tech program there, and i never should have switched professions, i loved nursing and let a bad teacher convince me that i hated it. On a final note, i am the type of person who usually never complains... ever... but i literally tell anyone that asks me about the BBCC program that they will be much better off to move to go to another school if it is at all possible. Its worth uprooting to go elsewhere, trust me. And i am a very good student, had near perfect score on my TEAS testing and entrance scores, plus in my current schooling I am the only one in my class to get a 4.0 the final quarter of RT schooling... so in case your wondering if it was anything to the effect of being lazy and making excuses why i didn't make it through, trust me, its not that at all, lol. Just a horrible horrible school, BBCC Nursing.
