Hey traveling nurses, I would advise against taking an assignment at Palmdale Regional. It is dangerous and hostile. If you chose to take an assignment please ask about patient ratios, breaks and what to do if your charge nurse cannot be found for hours. There is no OR staff, if you work med/surg or med/tele it is nothing to get 3-4 admissions in a row as a traveler as other nurses only get one. In the ER you can have 3 ICU patients and they expect you to take a fourth patient. Do it expect breaks and expect that patients can use foul language and nothing is done about it, including physical threats. The ICU offers little help with a lot of criticism. Just be careful, your license and potentially your life are in jeopardy.

California has a staffing law and if you are required to take 4 ICU patients, there are consequences. The only danger to your licence is not reporting patient jeopardy. The staffng law also mandates paying an additional hour for each missed break or late meal. There are a number of law firms in California that specialize in recovering these messed payments. Google to find them.
