I'm taking the OCN exam this November to get oncology certified. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to study for this?
Amy
Thanks,
I just missed the discounted early bird sign up date for any tests befor July 2012. I am going to wait until July to take the test.
That gives me way too much time to study, and worry.
I think I will get the book and start reading it and then take a review course a bit closer to the test date so that I don't drive myself crazy too early.
I am excited to do this. I have been in oncology out patient for just over a year and feel that I still have so much to learn to feel really confident.
I also want to make myself more marketable to get a better paying job at a place with better benefits!
Hey all! Sorry I missed the posts. My email wasn't alerting me for some reason... As dreavt said, you find out instantly. I was still in the testing room and couldn't resist a silent fist pump in the air! :) Annacat, study hard, but don't be too scared! I wasn't even in oncology a full year and I passed!
I took the OCN about a year ago. Definitely found the ONS study guide most helpful. Just did every question in there. Went back and redid the sections I did poorly on over and over again. My employer only pays for the test if you pass, so lots of financial motivation there.
I found the test to be extremely difficult. My understanding of it is that there are different versions of the test with some more difficult than others, so you can get more wrong on those versions and still pass? I definitely didn't think I was going to pass as I was going through the exam. When I did, I was smiling so largely I could hardly see around my lips to drive home!
I had a lot of luck using:
