How can one memorize all the different names of bacteria, fungi, algae etc .Does anybody have any input? I worked so hard in my A&P course and still got 88% and was not able to get 90 % . I really want to get an A this time.

I made flash cards, I down loaded pictures of everything I needed to know, also try and find an online medical dictionary with Audio, so you can hear the pronounciation (that always helped me). I would make up cards with the picture on one side and all the facts I needed on the other side. It's broken up into sections so you won't need to learn everything right off just concentrate on the chunks as they come. We started off with Eukaryotes tape worms and Girardia things like that it was very cool. If you can try your hardest to really sink your teeth in and enjoy it, that's what helps me if I like a class and try to find the "interesting bits" then I will be more wiling to put in the time and thus do well!

Oh yes one more thing, if your school will let you (some classes did some didn't). Take pictures of everything, I have a great digi camera and took pictures right in the scope. I especially did this for my unknown, I was so frazzled and so much to do each class sometimes I would forget, but I had pictures of everyone of my tests along with controls so if I made a mistake I could look back and see what I did, I turned these in with my paper and got a 98% on my unknown project.

good luck

That was my first class back in 30 years so I took a tape recorder with me. Even though my teacher had a heavy accent it still helped me remember her lectures (examples). It is a very tedious course. Not alot of visual learning. I felt it was alot of understanding processes (that can't be seen). Hopefully you will get good reviews before your tests. My teacher counted our exams as 70% of our grade. UGH And she zero-no reviews. If you have a Jacquelyn Black book I know that there are alot of good study flashcards from her books on flashcardexchange.com or flashcardsexchange. But I had the Tolaro book. Not much on that. I thought they were kinda helpful. Hopefully your teacher will break the information down for you too. I will be visiting rateyourprof.com the next time around. Good luck to you, let us know how you are doing. I need a good grade in the A&P's too. Got a C in the Micro 1 course. A&P will be better for me cause I am a visual learner. (hopefully:icon_roll) Take care.

Try this site: It was very helpful for the flashcards. You don't even have to buy the flashcards just copy the information that you need.

they might even have your book author. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot moosiesmom for loads of information . I also did biology after 10 yrs of my passing Bachelors . At first it was very overwhelming but later I discovered it was useless to read chapters from book . I use to pick topics from chapter ,made my on notes combined with my taped audio lectures and mostly use to study anatomy through pictures or diagrams only. I just completed A&P I and am doing A&P II and in both it helped to study certain topic thru diagrams. For example if you have to study Bones in body then take time out ,go to lab ,take out bone box and start naming all bones with their function or classifaction and you'll get an expert on it no time. I secured 100/100 in bones. Muscles are tough ,so try to study cadavers with your classmates, more practice will make it perfect specially hands and legs muscles are very confusing.. Try to picture everything in your mind. let me know if you have any questions about A&P.

My microbiology book is from Cowan and Tolare .

This person had our book so click on her and she did a few good flashcards for you. Click on the "Wendy" and all of her micro stuff will come up. She has the flashcards for alot of the Tolaro chapters. Hope this helps you ! Wendy was my best friend last semester !!
