Best way to learn about cells

Published

First time taking anatomy and we are learnimg about cells...ugh....so boring. The text book is kinda bland. How are you all able to study the cells and functions? Please help! Im in dire need and this is just the first week of school.

Any videos? Books? Flashcards?

Thanks thanks thanks

Reward yourself and keep your eyes on the prize!

Remember though that what you learn here is the foundation for the more interesting stuff that will come later.

Check out khanacademy and crash course (they're on youtube) - read the chapter summaries in your book and then when you go and read the chapter, you'll feel like it makes a bit more sense.

If you're artistically inclined, draw stuff! I have doodles in my old note books giving all the organelles jobs - gym-bro mitochondria, Golgi apparatus in a Fed-Ex cap. A&P can be really dry in parts, it's up to you to find creative ways to spice it up and make it stick! ;)

Totally agree with drawing stuff. Even if you're not into drawing, if you're a kinetic and visual learner you'll remember what you draw a few times! Get some colored pencils and make a few cell drawings with labels. Make them as detailed as you need.

If you don't like drawing you can probably find blank diagrams online that you can fill in with labels too! With cells I found that knowing the processes that happened in them (ATP generation, DNA replication, etc) was far more interesting than just memorizing the structures but came with the added benefit of understanding the structures anyway.

Also helpful was being able to "teach" someone what each part of the cell does and each process that happens in it.

You really just need to find something that works for you specifically and go with it. :) Good luck!

Second Khan and Crash Course. Holy heck those got me through a thought 6 months í ½í¸‚
