What type of stethoscope would you reccommend for a mother/baby job. I think I have heard that there is one type available that incorporates two sizes into one stethescope for infants/peds and adults.

Yeah, I'd also recommend the Littmann Cardio III the most for the job you describe... and, well... just about any job... except NICU i suppose...

I like my Littman Cardiology also. But remember, the smaller steth is really best for newborns. I find the big one picks up "stray noise" on those tiny chests. You may need two steths, as I have, to best auscultate both moms and babies. Also find out what the unit has as a policy. Some places disallow people using their steths from room to room for infection control purposes. Also, often nurseries are stocked with baby-sized steths for use there. Don't spend a lot of money if you don't have to!!!! It does not make sense to. Find out what is there first.

I agree...don't spend the $$$ if you don't have to.
In nursing school I was all about the Littman's. In the real world of nursing.... our unit is stocked with non-Littman steth's, and they work just fine. :)
