Hi everyone,

I was wondering what states or even specific hospital offers a good start for new grads? I live a few hours west of Chicago, but want to move after graduation. I am really looking for an area with tempid weather, good area for kids, and hospitals that are new grad friendly???

Any suggestions on area or hospitals???? :nurse:

Thanks!

The list could be fairly long. I think you need to decide which area you want to work in and what area of the country you want to relocate to. Almost every major city with large hospitals have new grad programs. Thus after you figure out where you want to move to, look into hospitals in that area for new grad programs.

This is a tough one. As a new grad last year I tried hard to find the "best" hospital and it just seemed that no two nurses have the same experience at any one hospital or even the same floor! I agree that narrowing down what area of the country or world you want to go to may be your best bet, then look at what the hospitals in that area each have to offer. Currently I'm looking to relocate and strongly finding the Virginia or North Carolina area attractive -partly because of the nice weather. Also, while both come with the southern hospitality I enjoy, Southern states generally provide a lower pay scale for nurses than in the north. I have found the "Region" tab on this site helpful in finding out about hospitals in the areas I'm interested in.

Good luck to you and enjoy the journey :)
